As more and more luxury watch brands are beginning to jump on the smartwatch bandwagon, LG Electronics has been getting ready with their competitor. The company revealed plans to release their new smartwatch Watch Urbane. The smartwatch is designed with upscale consumers in mind, featuring a stylish design.
The Watch Urbane, which is LG’s newest Android Wear device, has almost the exact same features as LG’s G Watch R. Both watches have round, 1.3-inch displays. They both have the same amount of RAM (512MB) and the same battery power (410 mAh).
Both also have a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor to measure heart rate and average pulse, a feature for those using the watch during exercise. The Watch Urbane is dust and water resistant as well.
What makes the Watch Urbane different from the G Watch R is the design. The watch has a body of stainless steel and comes in two color finishes, gold and silver. Its strap is a stitched leather, but the strap can be removed and replaced with any other 22mm-wide band.
This contrasts with the G Watch R’s more sporty, casual look. According to Juno Cho, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile COmmunications Company, “LG Watch Urbane is an important part of our strategy to develop wearable devices that are worn and viewed as everyday accessories, not electronic gadgets.”
According to a press release from LG Electronics, the smartwatch will be premiering at the Mobile World Congress 2015 conference. Pricing has not been announced yet, but will be different depending on the local markets.
The LG Watch Urbane will be added to the Wearables.com Device Database shortly!
