Facebook’s Wearable Hackathon

Many popular wearables have social sharing options that help blast information tracked by the devices to social networks, principally Facebook. Nowadays it certainly feels as though more and more physical activity from work outs to runs is being shown in our Newsfeed. That, plus Facebook’s recent acquisition of virtual reality headset maker Oculus VR, make Facebook holding a wearables specific hackathon seem like an obvious move. The six week’s worth of work focused around integrating a Facebook product with devices from Pebble, Fitbit, Jawbone, and Google Glass. The results proved mainly focused in the fitness space, though some did try to take more general entertainment focuses by creating networking aids and even digital pets.
